Theodore X. Koinis, MBA, CFP®
Ted Koinis is a
founding partner in Helios Wealth Advisors, LLC. Ted brings more than
12 years of investment and planning experience, as well as a keen
insight into the technologies and methods needed to provide leading
edge service to our clients.
Ted is
responsible for the overall experience each client enjoys with our
firm. From developing retirement plans and investment proposals to
monitoring the investment markets and the managers employed, Ted
strives to ensure each client’s goals are being met.
Prior to
founding Helios Wealth Advisors, LLC, Ted spent over 9 years at
Financial Synergies as a senior advisor. While there, Ted developed
retirement plans, monitored investment performance and advised clients
on all aspects of their wealth. He was responsible for the management
of over $100 million in assets at the firm. He also served on the
company’s Investment Committee.
Ted passed the
rigorous Certified Financial PlannerTM exam in March of
2003 on his first attempt and is authorized by the Certified Financial
Planner Board of Standards, Inc. to use its prestigious CFP®
designation. Ted is an Investment Advisor Representative with Helios
Wealth Advisors and holds NASD series 7, 63, and 66 licenses. He is
also a Registered Representative of United Planners Financial Services
of America, Member NASD/SIPC. Ted is also a member of the Financial Planning
Association.
Ted is an active
member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Houston, TX
where he served on its Parish Council on 2 separate occasions for a
total of 9 years. He was Treasurer for 5 of those years. He
currently advises the church’s Endowment Board. Ted also served as a
director of the Southwest High School Charter School in Houston, TX.
Ted obtained his
Masters in Business Administration from the University of Houston in
1992, having concentrated in the area of Finance. He earned a
Bachelors of Science degree in Chemistry from the University of North
Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1984.
Ted lives in
Pearland, TX with his wife of 19 years, Pauline, and their 3 children,
Stacie, James and Nicholas. Ted enjoys golfing, but has put that
on the back-burner to enjoy watching his children excel at baseball,
basketball, soccer and music.

Ara “AJ” Karian, CPA, CFP®
Ara “AJ” Karian is
a founding partner of Helios Wealth Advisors, LLC. He brings more than
thirty years of experience in the financial industry. AJ’s vision in
wealth management requires an engaged professional partnership focused
on the client’s needs, their aspirations and their legacy. AJ brings
thoughtful, integrated advice, specific to your situation and forged
from the successful integration of your goals and Helios’s experience.
AJ began his
career in audit and taxation with Tobias, Fleishman and Shapiro, the
largest regional certified public accounting firm in New England. He
passes the rigorous CPA exam in May of 1983 and is authorized by the
Texas State Board of Accountancy to use the CPA designation. He has
been a controller and treasure Bayland Publishing Inc a 100 person
privately held publishing firm in Texas.
Prior to founding
Helios Wealth Advisors, LLC, AJ was engaged for 22 years with
Transamerica Companies and Mass Mutual Financial Group specializing in
estate planning and preservation, qualified and non qualified
retirement plans for individuals and organizations, investments and
various group benefits and insurance vehicles.
In industry he
developed and implemented capital expenditures for the Engineered
Division of Ingersoll Rand.
AJ’s became a
Certified Financial Planner in 1986. He is authorized by the Certified
Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc to use the prestigious CFP®
designation. He is also a member of the Financial Planning
Association. Also he is a member of the local and national chapter of
National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors.
AJ is a
Registered Representative of United Planners.
AJ received a
bachelor in science in accounting from the University of Massachusetts
in 1973.
He is active in the local community through his
participation in several organizations. AJ was the president of
Education Leadership, Inc., a non profit charter school for at-risk
high school students and a board member of Young Learners charter
school, an early childhood develop program. He has been a board member
of West U Rotary, Chairman of sponsorship for West U soccer club and
active member of St Luke’s United Methodist church where he served as
president of the Goodwill Sunday school class.
